Major props to Jamie Beauchesne, Marcus Brown and Terry Winter who rounded out the top three in the second round of the Pro Slalom Shootout today. Their respective scores for the 38 Off Spin it to Win it were 36 buoys (6 FULL 38 Off SPINS!!), 34.5 buoys (5 AND A HALF 38 Off SPINS!!), and 31 buoys (JUST OVER 5 FULL 38 off SPINS!!), which blew away the competition. The only other skiers who even came close to touching their mojo were Chris Rossi with 26 buoys and Thomas Degasperi with 20. As we walked away from the lake this afternoon, these skiers were clearly feeling the burn.

The Men's Open Slalom round of the Pro Slalom Shootout just finished a few minutes ago. Jamie Beauchesne, Chris Rossi and Marcus Brown filled up the podium spots with skiers like Thomas Degasperi and Jodi Fisher edging into the top twelve qualifying spots. Right now, everyone's chilling out in the food tent enjoying a quick lunch and then it's back to the water for the 38 Off Spin it to Win it. Everyone's amped to see who's going to set the bar and how high it will be for this event that's never been done before. The buzz at lunch was that full stomachs might slow some skiers down...

Did anybody else see this story: http://www.contracostatimes.com/news/ci_6073218 It's not a perfect outcome, but still a pretty cool example of a group of water skiers banding together to protect a local spot. Money quote: "'The safest people in the water are water-skiers,' said Scott Pellaton, a longtime barefoot skier." Well said, Scott. And congratulations to the Delta skiers who fought this ban with such vigor.

Who's watching the Masters Webcast at http://www.masterslive.net/index.htm? Great thing to do, especially if you couldn't make it to the tournament itself this weekend.

Great news...we just made it a little bit easier for you to find the boat of your dreams. Check out the new and improved Virtual Test Drive page
(http://www.waterskimag.com/virtual_boats.jsp) to search an array of inboard boats by type, length, model year and manufacturer. Hey, even if you're not in the market for a new boat at the moment, no better way to break up the office doldrum than browsing these beauties.
