The "Day in the Life of Skiing" photo collection is back! This July 28, you can snap ski photos and post them to our special photo gallery. We'll sort through everything and print a selection of favorites in an upcoming issue of WaterSki.
Many of you were a big help with this last year, and it made for a very popular feature in our June '07 issue and this online gallery. That had us psyched to do it again -- bigger and better.
Sounds like an incredible weekend of skiing took place this weekend in Lacanau, France at the Malibu Open. Jamie Beauchesne set a pending world record, skiing 2 @ 43 off and Natalie Hamrick made quite a come back, winning the women's event with 2.5 at 39.5. Congrats to both! WaterSki's fearless leader Todd Ristorcelli is in Lacanau, France this weekend for the Malibu Open. He's there both as a journalist and competitor, with traveling companions like photographer Bill Doster and pro skier Nick Parsons. When I last spoke to him, he was with Nick who'd just been pulled over for speeding. Poor Nick is having a rough couple of weeks, first this crash at the Pro Slalom Shootout and now a speeding ticket!
Talked to Freddy Krueger earlier this week about his recent victory at Beaver Lake. The man is on fire this year, with almost a perfect record. The really amazing thing is he's not just winning, he's blowing away the competition with huge distances. At Beaver Lake he jumped 238 and second place was 216. But according to Freddy he's not doing anything different, just going big every time. He said:
